Help us to remove more barriers and ensure that every young person in the London Borough of Sutton to make, be inspired by and to celebrate the music they love.
Gift Aid provides vital additional funds for charities and it costs you nothing extra. If you Gift Aid your payments, Sutton Music Trust can claim Gift Aid tax relief of 25p on every pound you give on all eligible donations.
A one-off or regular donation, no matter how large or small, will directly impact our students.
Here are the different ways in which you can donate:
One-off Donations
Any amount you wish to donate will be gratefully received and will support our children and young people in making music.
This would include remissions for band, orchestra, or choir membership; instrumental tuition with an SMT tutor; support with exam fees; instrument hire; or payment towards residential trips.
Regular Donations
Your regular donations will have a huge impact on the services and opportunities we provide for our children and young people.
- £84.50 a term will pay for a young person's band, orchestra, or choir membership.
- £38.50 a term will pay for a term of instrument hire.
- £233.50 a term will cover the cost of a term of one to one 30-minute lessons.
- £105 will subsidise 50% of the cost of attending our annual High Ashurst weekend.
The Roger Willey Brass Award
This award will honour the memory of Roger and ensure young brass players from the London Borough of Sutton can continue to flourish and make music.
As part of the award, a promising brass player in Year 7 or above, who attends one of the Sutton Music Trust wind bands, will receive £500 in funding to support their musical development over a year.
We know that every student’s musical journey is unique, so while our Award Terms and Conditions guide the award process, SMT reserves the right to interpret, adjust, or waive them in exceptional cases. This could include eligibility or timelines, as long as the student shows dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment to their instrumental studies and the SMT Wind Bands
The LCH Ensembles Scholarship
The LCH Ensembles Scholarship is for oboe players who attend any Sutton secondary school and who do not currently play the oboe in SMT an ensemble.
This scholarship has been established in honour and remembrance of Laura Cooke Hewitt, a Sutton parent and resident who sadly passed away in the summer of 2025. Laura attended Sutton High School and loved music; she played the oboe and was a member of SMT’s wind band and youth orchestra.
Sutton Music Trust Bursary Scheme
SMT provides bursaries to students whose families/carers may not be in a position to support the ongoing financial cost associated with learning a musical instrument or participating in an ensemble.
