Frequently Asked Questions

Lessons & Payments

  • In school (peripatetic) lessons are 1:1, paired or small group lessons that take place at school during the school day.
  • If you prefer lessons to take place after school, you can apply for Music Academy lessons.
  • SMT fees can be viewed here.
  • Lesson fees are for ten lessons per term unless you are starting mid-way through the term .

For existing students of Sutton Music Trust, please log in to your SpeedAdmin account and go to the registration tab to apply for further lessons, ensemble membership or instrument hire. 

  • All payments are made online using your SpeedAdmin account.
  • Log into your SpeedAdmin account and go to the “Charge state” box on the left-hand side of the screen, click “Pay with card”, and follow the instructions provided.

  • Once lessons have started, Sutton Music Trust fees are charged on a rolling termly basis.
  • Your child will be automatically enrolled for their SMT activities in the following terms, with an invoice being issued approximately six weeks before the start date. If you wish to discontinue your child’s activity, please do this via your SpeedAdmin account by the following dates: 
    • 1 June to discontinue at the end of the Summer Term; 
    • 1 November to discontinue at the end of the Autumn term; 
    • 1 March to discontinue at the end of the Spring term. 
  • If your child is changing schools/ starting secondary school, please note that we still require notice to stop lessons at your child’s current school. If we also offer lessons at your child’s new school, we will do our best to transfer their lessons.

Musical Instruments

  • Students must have their own instruments.   
  • If you do not own an instrument, you can hire one from Sutton Music Trust by clicking here.   
  • Please let us know in good time if you wish to hire an instrument to use in the first lesson.    
  • Instrument hire is not included in the lesson fee.    
  • Students will not need to take keyboards or drum kits to their lessons in school. Drummers will need their own drumsticks.   
  • Hired instruments from Sutton Music Trust need to be collected from our offices. AddressSutton Music Trust, Cognus Limited, Cantium House, Railway Approach, Wallington, SM6 0DZ.
  • We are not able to deliver these to the school.    

Lessons & Rehearsals

Check Online:

  • You can check your child’s lesson timetable by logging into your SpeedAdmin account. Click here to see a short video of how to view your child’s schedule on SpeedAdmin. 

In-School Lessons:

  • Lessons take place during the school day.
  • Lessons will be on a rotating timetable to minimise disruption to other lessons. A rotating timetable means that lessons will be at a different time each week. Check your SpeedAdmin schedule for a full list of dates and times.
  • Students are responsible for attending their lessons at the specified time.

Music Academy

  • Lessons are held at Cheam Park Farm Primary Academy on Wednesday Evenings and Saturday mornings.
  • Lessons are held at Cantium House in Wallington on Thursday Evenings and Saturday mornings.

Worship Area  

We share all of your music for rehearsals through the Study Plan area of SpeedAdmin.  

Please could you access the Study Plan area, print your parts and bring them along to the first rehearsal.  

If your music is not on the Study Plan area yet, it will be uploaded the day before your first rehearsal. 

At the start of each new term, many students will be moving into different groups. Please see your student’s ensemble for this term below. You can also log into your SpeedAdmin account to see your child’s rehearsal times and dates. If you are unable to attend this ensemble day or time please contact suttonmusictrust@cognus.org.uk.
