Debut Classes at Music Academy

Debut Classes at Music Academy

Sutton Music Trust continues to be committed to inclusion and offering affordable lessons for children and young people. This year, Sutton Music Trust launched our Debut! lessons on violin, guitar, and ukulele at Saturday Music Academy at Cheam Park Farm Primary Academy.

The classes are aimed at beginners and class sizes vary up to 12 participants. The classes are led by our skilled Music Academy tutors and offer an affordable first step to learning an instrument. The lessons last 40 minutes and cost £55 per term, making them an extremely affordable alternative to 1:1 lessons.

Debut! Violin classes help each child experience the excitement of both learning the violin and, for some pupils, introducing them to the world of music. I make my learning environment engaging with musical games to help with rhythmic understanding. It doesn't matter if a pupil joins at a different time as we help each other to make progress and I can see the positive impact this has on the children as they look forward to seeing each other every week. Currently, all pupils are able to place fingers down and are learning how to understand this in musical notation. We have finished the term on festive pieces such as 'Jingle Bells' and I look forward to seeing what the New Year brings.”

We currently have 25 students taking our Debut! classes and are hoping to expand this to more instruments and classes in the future.
