Sutton Young Musician of the Year 2022

April saw our Young Musician of the Year 2022 event, this time with a junior masterclass added to give even more of our young people the chance to perform and gain feedback. The uptake for the competition was high – 22 students entered the process, with nine vying for the title of Young Musician of the Year 2022.

The staff and tutors at Sutton Music Service are incredibly proud of everyone who entered and would like to thank Andy Meyers for acting as the adjudicator for the afternoon. The feedback he gave our students was highly valuable. A huge thanks to Phil Aslangul for being our accompanist and all at All Saints Church in Carshalton for their continued support of the music service.

After performing a hypnotising programme on the vibraphone and marimba, Liam R was crowned the Young Musician of the Year 2022. Congratulations to Liam and the winners of the Junior Masterclass listed below:

Junior Strings – Freya L (Cello)

Junior Piano – Andrew Y

Junior Wind & Brass – Timothy C (Alto Saxophone)

A huge congratulations to the above students and everyone who participated in the event.
