The LCH Ensembles Scholarship

The LCH Ensembles Scholarship

Sutton Music Trust (SMT) is proud to launch the new LCH Ensembles Scholarship. This scholarship is for oboe players who attend any Sutton secondary school and who do not currently play the oboe in SMT an ensemble.

This scholarship has been established in honour and remembrance of Laura Cooke Hewitt, a Sutton parent and resident who sadly passed away in the summer of 2025. Laura attended Sutton High School and loved music; she played the oboe and was a member of SMT’s wind band and youth orchestra.

Students who are awarded the LCH Ensembles Scholarship will receive two years of fully subsidised membership in up to two ensembles. This scholarship will give oboe students the opportunity to enjoy the proven benefits of playing in an ensemble, including developing performance skills and grow their friendship circle.

To apply for the LCH Ensembles Scholarship, students and/or their parents/carers should write to Claire Cossins, Head of Service. In their application, they should outline their musical background and experience, including instrumental standard and playing experience.

Sutton Music Trust extend their sincere thanks to Laura’s family and friends for making this possible.
