Autumn Concert Week 2025

Autumn Concert Week 2025

At Sutton Music Trust, all students in ensembles have the opportuntiy to perform in front of an audience and showcase what they have been working on during the term. Autumn Concert Week showcased the amazing talent of students in our bands, orchestras, and for the first time, our Guitar Ensemble.

Monday Highlights

Autumn Concert Week opened on Monday 1st December at St Andrews United Reformed Church, kicking off the week with performances from Young Musicians String Group, Young Musicians Training Orchestra, senior SMT soloists, and Don’t Fret Guitar Ensemble.

We were so pleased to be joined for the first time by Don’t Fret, a Music Academy ensemble who are comprised of electric guitars, acoustic guitars and a bass guitar. They played a range of songs including a Blues Jam where each member got the chance to perform a solo.

Special thanks to Flora, Alex and Avery who performed instrumental solos that inspired the younger students.

Tuesday Highlights

Tuesday 2nd December’s concert saw Sutton Youth Training Band, Sutton Youth Symphonic Band and Sutton Youth Wind Orchestra.

We were also delighted to be joined by the Philharmonia Orchestra as part of the Side-By-Side project, where students got the chance to perform alongside professional musicians and learn valuable skills.

This concert saw the presentation of the first Jack Petchey Award, as well as the second winner of the Roger Willey Brass Award. Congratulations to Elinor and Ethan for their awards!

'The concert was amazing! I really enjoyed it - and thought the two presenters were very good (such confidence), and the overall musicianship was impressive!'

Friday Highlights

The week was closed on Friday 5th December by Young Musicians Orchestra and Sutton Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Young Musicians Orchestra tackled some very tricky pieces this term, but they blew the audience away with how well they performed! Sutton Youth Symphony Orchestra performed a wonderful Medley from the Disney film Frozen, which was the perfect end to a winter concert.

During this concert, two more Jack Petchey Awards were presented to Zara and Jethro, both players from Young Musicians Orchestra. Well done to Zara and Jethro for their achievements!

Come and see our amazing students perform next term, with Spring Concert Week being Monday 23rd March – Friday 27th March. Tickets will be available via our website closer to the date.
