SMS Celebrates the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Sutton Music Service is proud to build links with the community. On Thursday, 2nd June, instrumentalists from the Sutton Youth Symphonic Band, Wind Orchestra, and Symphony Orchestra, performed at two sites in Sutton as beacons were lit for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The students performed a specially commissioned piece called ‘Diu Regnare’, played at the lighting ceremony of beacons across the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.

Both performances were well attended and received by members of the public at Cheam Park and St. Helier Open Space. Our students acted professionally and gained a lot from the experience. Students commented that it was a “privilege to play for the Queen’s Jubilee” and exciting to “be part of history.”

It was an absolute pleasure having Sutton Youth Wind and Orchestra playing during the lead up to the Platinum Jubilee Beacon Lighting at Cheam Park & St Helier Open Space. The group really helped to mark the occasion and bring an atmosphere of celebration to this event. Huge thanks to the group and Sutton Music Service who helped to organise and deliver a memorable evening.
