Spring Concert Week 2026

Spring Concert Week 2026

At Sutton Music Trust, we love showcasing our students’ hard work during end‑of‑term concert week, and this spring was no exception. Read on to discover how our students shone on stage.

On Monday 23rd March 2026, Spring Concert Week at Sutton Music Trust kicked off with a bang, with the concert for Young Musicians String Group, Young Musicians Training Orchestra, and Young Musicians Orchestra. Young Musicians String Group started off the concert with pieces including a brilliant rendition of Ode to Joy. Young Musicians Training Orchestra then impressed the audience with pieces from Themes from First Symphony to Can You Feel the Love Tonight. Closing the concert was Young Musicians Orchestra who played some incredible repertoire including Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves that blew the audience away!

We were also delighted to present four Jack Petchey Awards during this concert. Students had been nominated by peers, tutors and parents and the Sutton Music Trust Youth Forum then anonymously chose the winners. You can read more about the winners and the reason for their nomination by clicking the link at the bottom of this page. Congratulations to Natalie, Luke, Sophie and Isabelle!

The bands concert on Tuesday 24th March was a success, with Sutton Youth Training Band, Sutton Youth Symphonic Band, and Sutton Youth Wind Orchestra performing a range of smash hits. Sutton Youth Training Band kicked off the concert with some brilliant pieces, including What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction and We’re All In This Together from High School Musical. Sutton Youth Symphonic Band were up next, performing TV hits from across the decades. They also performed a medley from K-Pop Demon Hunters, which the audience found difficult not to sing along to! Sutton Youth Wind Orchestra, the most senior band, closed the concert with more TV themes, including the London debut of The Traitors theme song. We were delighted to welcome the arranger, Paula Goodwin, to the concert.

Friday 27th March was the concert for Sutton Youth Symphony Orchestra to perform the pieces they have been working on this term in their own concert. This performance included a solo clarinet performance from Faith, previous winner of the prestigious Cheryl Jenkins Award (which will be awarded again in the Summer Term), in the piece Concertino for Clarinet by Weber. The orchestra also performed Night on a Bare Mountain by Mussorgsky and Symphony No.2 by Borodin. The audience were highly impressed by the standard of playing, with an audience member commenting on how ‘The standard was the highest for a long time – it was a really enjoyable concert.’

Thank you to everyone who came and supported during concert week. A special thank you to our wonderful tutors who continue to raise the bar each concert week. Thank you to Cllr Cumar Sahathevan, Deputy Mayor of the London Borough of Sutton who attended two of the concerts during the week.

I am immensely proud watching my own children, but watching all the children playing together is an experience I feel many should have the opportunity to see and the children to understand what an amazing event they are a part of.

Thank you for providing a fantastic musical experience for our son. He loves going to rehearsals and feels such pride taking part in the concerts.
