At Sutton Music Trust, we are committed to recognising the efforts and achievements of all our students. From September 2025, SMT will become a centre for the Jack Petchey Achievement Award Scheme, giving students the chance to celebrate the efforts and achievements of their peers.
Sir Jack Petchey CBE created the Jack Petchey Foundation to inspire young people and recognise the amazing contributions they make to society. To do this the Foundation has invested over £124m in programmes that benefit young people aged 11-25 across London and Essex.
Sutton Music Trust (SMT) has been awarded the status of a gold provider, meaning that 9 awards can be given out each academic year, meaning a total of £2,700 can be invested back into our ensembles, whether it be for sheet music hire, purchasing or maintaining instruments, or putting the funds towards tours and residentials. The awards are given to students between 11-25 who are a member of an SMT ensemble.

It is an incredibly exciting time for SMT to become an official centre for the Jack Petchey Achievement Award scheme. I cannot wait to hear who our students recognise for their commitment, efforts, and contributions to the SMT ensembles.

The Sutton Music Trust Youth Forum (SMTYF) will play a part in administering the scheme, overseeing an open and fair nomination process which the students will run.
The first Jack Petchey Awards from SMT will be presented in our Autumn Term Concerts in December 2025.
