EYFS Music

Sutton Music Trust strives to bring music to children of all ages across the borough of Sutton. The Power of Music to Change Lives: A National Plan for Music Education states that a strong foundation of music in the early years is vital for all children.

Music Development in your EYFS Setting

All children should receive regular opportunities to make music – both spontaneously and in scheduled music time. You can evaluate your setting’s current music provision by using our simple Self-Evaluation Tool.

Let us know how your evaluation went and how we can help further by completing our short form here: https://forms.office.com/r/jLHyACPL9Q

Mini Melody Makers

Sutton Music Trust runs Mini Melody Makers, which are a fun and engaging music session with parents or childminders and their children in the Early Years. Music making with children contributes to development across the seven learning goals as identified in Development Matters: Non-statutory curriculum guidance for the early years foundation stage. For example, clapping and stamping to music is part of physical development. Responding to changes in music (such as from quiet to loud) is part of expressive arts and design.

Sessions take place on Thursday mornings (09:30-10:15) at Floor 1, Cantium House, Railway Approach (opposite Wallington Train Station).

You can sign up for the Mini Melody Makers waiting list here: https://uksutton.speedadmin.dk/registration#/
