UK exam boards AQA, OCR and Eduqas now recognise DJ decks as a musical instrument alongside the piano, violin or guitar. That makes them a potential part of music GCSE. Our DJ lessons are designed to introduce you to the exciting world of DJing and equip you with the fundamental skills to kickstart your journey as a DJ.
Learning to DJ is a new way into music. It’s a great way to re-awaken interest in all music GCSE syllabuses. And it’s a surefire way to generate a buzz around the music department — and the whole school.
Our specialist DJ tutors offer students a fresh, exciting study programme that’s in tune with the music they listen to.
In these lessons, we provide a comprehensive and hands-on approach to DJing. Lessons are inclusive and accessible; perfect for beginners with little to no prior experience. Our expert instructors will guide you through the basics, ensuring you develop a solid foundation in the art of DJing. You’ll learn how to use industry-standard DJ equipment, including turntables, mixers, and controllers, as well as the essential software used by professional DJs.
Our curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including beatmatching, phrasing, song selection, and mixing techniques. You’ll discover the secrets behind creating seamless transitions, building energy on the dancefloor, and reading the crowd to keep them moving. We’ll also delve into the world of music theory, helping you understand the fundamentals of harmonies, melodies, and rhythm, enabling you to create your own unique sound.
Throughout the lessons, you’ll have the opportunity to practice your skills in a supportive and encouraging environment. Our instructors will provide personalized feedback and guidance, helping you refine your technique and develop your own style. You’ll also have access to a vast library of music, allowing you to explore different genres and experiment with various tracks to find your signature sound. All you need to get started is a USB stick, headphones and a desire to explore music that moves you; we provide you with all the tech you need during lessons in order to perfect your skill set.
