Sutton Music Trust attends the Sutton Youth Summit

Sutton Music Trust aims to help every young person to make, be inspired by, and celebrate the music they love. Our important relationships with other organisations in Sutton are a crucial part of allowing all young people to make music.

On Thursday 10th October 2024, Sutton Music Trust attended the Sutton Youth Summit event in St. Nicholas Shopping Centre to celebrate Sutton’s Diversity. The Summit was held to engage young people in the community and to spread awareness of various services available to them throughout the borough. This event was especially important as it was being held on World Mental Health Day, and we visited several stalls which advocated for young people and mental health. Furthermore, this event took place during Black History Month, highlighting the community’s commitment to celebrating diversity. All the young people that attended were entered in a free prize draw for some amazing local prizes such as cinema tickets and restaurant vouchers.

The theme for this year was ‘Celebrating Sutton’s Diversity’, part of Safer Sutton for all, a project that aims to bring the community together. The project aims to reduce violence and improve feelings of safety and was commissioned by Sutton Council and delivered by Innovation Unit.

We had the pleasure of watching some amazing performances from the young people of Sutton, including some brilliant singing and dancing from Sutton Community Dance. Sutton Music Trust is incredibly proud to be part of such a diverse borough and be able to provide opportunities for all children to make music. We even had the chance to sample some delicious pizza from Antonino’s Pizza!

We handed out our brand-new flyers to prospective students to promote our incredible offer, including instrumental lessons and singing opportunities.

Many thanks to Sutton Youth Summit for allowing us to be part of the event to spread the word about music!
