It is crucial to us at Sutton Music Trust to foster talented young musicians and the stars of tomorrow, and Up Next at The Sound Lounge showcases new talent in an ever-changing music scene.
On Wednesday 12th February 2025, Sutton Music Trust held another brilliant night of Up Next at the Sound Lounge in Sutton. We were also joined by Jamie Trowell, a mentor from Music for Youth who provided our young performers with some valuable feedback about their performances. Performers took the stage to dazzle a sold-out audience who supported the students with rapturous applause.
We had a total of 7 acts, including singer-songwriters, a DJ and multiple bands, some of whom take part in DJ lessons at Music Academy and are part of our Songwriters Circle. We were treated to some original songs as well as some covers, which was a perfect display of musical craftsmanship and songwriting skills being used. Our students took part in a sound check, where they learnt valuable lessons about sound levels with a professional and the different equipment they would need. This will be valuable knowledge if they go on to perform professionally in the future.
The Sound Lounge is an amazing venue based on Sutton High Street, which often spotlights up and coming artists, and we were so pleased that they welcomed our students to perform in a professional setting. We hope that this event inspires young musicians to continue performing and helps to build confidence for stage performances. Thank you to The Sound Lounge for providing a space for our young musicians to perform.
Jamie Trowell, who is not only a mentor for Music for Youth, but also an experienced musician, attended the event and provided each act with feedback that will be pivotal in their progression. Jamie had some wonderful comments about the style of songs picked by the musicians, songwriting techniques as well as performance tips. Thank you to Music for Youth for attending the event and continuing to inspire the musicians!
