SMT the Charity

Sutton Music Trust (SMT) is a registered charity, founded in 2024. Our aim at SMT is to help every young person in the London Borough of Sutton to make, be inspired by and to celebrate the music they love. We are committed to making a difference to the lives of young people through music and strive to continue to remove the barriers students may face in making a form of music that matters to them.

Feedback

(the children) were supported with removing the barriers to learning such as thinking, listening to other children, waiting their turn, sharing, organising their thoughts/ opinions and some gained in confidence to have a say. They developed the ability to working in groups and pairs…

Our primary school has flourished thanks to Sutton Music Trust's support. Their commitment has provided opportunities to perform, learn instruments, and experience live music events. The students' enthusiasm and musical skills have soared, creating a vibrant and joyful learning environment. We're deeply grateful for their invaluable contribution.

From our family, we want to say massive thank you to all for the encouragement and support that you give to our children as they continue to progress in their Musical journey. We are so blessed in our community to have SMT and we continue to offer our support for its continued success.

What truly sets Sutton Music Trust apart is the abundance of performance opportunities they provide. From the KS2 WCET music festival at the Fairfield Halls to the KS1 and KS2 Big Sings, pupils get to experience the joy of sharing their music with a wider audience. Sutton Music Trust offer a platform for young musicians to find their voice, develop their skills, and create lasting memories. I highly recommend them to any school seeking to enrich their pupils' musical journey.

As a director of music for the past 6 years, I've witnessed the transformative power of music education first-hand. However, finding engaging and accessible opportunities for students, especially in a group setting, can be challenging. That's where Sutton Music Trust comes in – they've been an invaluable resource in nurturing young musicians.

Congratulations on last night’s concert. You and your staff presented the young musicians really well, demonstrating how to create an engaging and entertaining concert with young musicians in the early stages of learning. It was apparent that the audience around me thought the same.
